Chemical sector December exports reach $1.82 billion
According to data from the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB), the chemical sector achieved $1.824 billion in exports in December 2019, representing a 20.54% increase.
Spain was the top export destination in December
Spain led as the primary export destination in December. Other countries in the top ten following Spain in December were Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Iran and the United States.
Chemical exports to Spain totalled $158,153,000 in December 2019. The main products exported to Spain in December were mineral fuels and mineral oils and products, plastics and plastic articles, inorganic chemicals, organic chemicals, rubber and rubber articles, and fertilizers. Twelve-month chemical exports to Spain in 2019 totalled $1,062,908,000.
Mineral fuels and mineral oils and products recorded the highest exports in December
In December, mineral fuels, mineral oils and products led chemical sector subsectors with $589,419,597 in exports. Plastics and plastic articles ranked second with $507,420,334 in exports, while inorganic chemicals exports placed third at $149,389,941. Other sectors in the top ten following inorganic chemicals were essential oils, cosmetics and soap; pharmaceutical products; rubber and rubber articles; paints, varnishes, inks and preparations; miscellaneous chemical substances; cleaning preparations; and organic chemicals.
