Şişecam named "Export Champion" in three categories
Şişecam, one of Turkey's most established institutions and organized by the Union of Exporters of Glass, Cement, Ceramics and Earth Products, received first-place awards in the "Flat Glass", "Household Glassware" and "Glass Packaging" categories at the 2019 Export Champions Awards Ceremony. At the awards ceremony, which was held online this year with the participation of Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan via video conference, Başak Öge, Corporate Governance and Compliance Coordinator at Şişecam, represented the company as "Export Champion" in three categories simultaneously.
A global player in the chemicals sector encompassing soda and chromium compounds alongside the glass industry, Şişecam received first-place awards in the "Flat Glass", "Household Glassware" and "Glass Packaging" categories at the 2019 Export Champions Awards Ceremony held by the Union of Exporters of Glass, Cement, Ceramics and Earth Products (ÇCSİB). The awards ceremony, held online this year with the participation of Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) President İsmail Gülle and ÇCSİB Board Chairman Erdem Çenesiz, was attended by Başak Öge, Corporate Governance and Compliance Coordinator at Şişecam, representing the company as "Export Champion" in three categories simultaneously.
Today, as a global player in all fundamental glass sectors such as flat glass, household glassware, glass packaging and glass fiber, as well as in business lines encompassing soda and chromium compounds, Şişecam plays a leading role in the automotive, mining, energy and recycling sectors. International sales share exceeded 63 percent
In 2019, as Şişecam continued its investments and growth, the company achieved production of 5.1 million tons of glass, 2.4 million tons of soda ash and 3.9 million tons of industrial raw materials. During this period, with sales revenues increasing by 16 percent, surpassing TRY 18 billion, Şişecam recorded international sales of approximately USD 2 billion through exports worth USD 788 million from Turkey. In 2019, the share of international sales—comprising exports from Turkey and sales from overseas production in Şişecam's consolidated sales—rose above 63 percent. The regional distribution of sales during this period was 76 percent Europe, 13 percent Asia-Oceania, 6 percent Africa-Middle East and 5 percent Americas. With 85 years of experience, 22,000 employees, production facilities spanning four continents and 14 countries, and sales to over 150 countries, Şişecam takes justified pride in representing Turkey in global markets as an international company.
