The New Name for Clean and Healthy Living: "Sanipak"

Eczacıbaşı Tüketim Ürünleri, which has been working for 55 years to accompany every moment of life for a clean and healthy living with its pioneering and innovative brands that have created their own categories, has changed its name as part of its globalization and sustainability strategy.

With pioneering and innovative brands that have created categories, Eczacıbaşı Consumer Products, which has worked for 55 years to accompany every moment of life for clean and healthy living, has undergone a name change as part of its globalization and sustainability strategy.

As of 6 January 2025, the company will continue its journey under the name 'Sanipak'. Sanipak is formed from the combination of the English word 'sanitary' meaning hygiene and health, and the Turkish word 'pak' meaning clean.

"Sanipak's story began 55 years ago."

Sharing his views on the name change, Eczacıbaşı Holding Board Chairman Bülent Eczacıbaşı said: "Eczacıbaşı Consumer Products set out 55 years ago for clean and healthy living. With Selpak, it produced Turkey's first branded tissue paper. Over the years, in the field of personal hygiene, it built a rich portfolio of brands and products by both creating categories and developing the categories in which it operates. We transformed the name of our company, which has such a strong and innovative portfolio, to Sanipak, which is a more global name that also supports our internationalization journey. With this decision, which also reflects our holistic approach to the evolving and developing sustainability agenda, we removed the word 'consumer' from our company name."

"We work with the vision of becoming the region's leading tissue paper company."

Sanipak CEO Bülent Kozlu, emphasizing that they are the leading organization in tissue paper in Turkey, said: "With our brands such as Selpak, Solo, Uni Baby, Selin and Okey, which come to mind first when it comes to personal hygiene, we accompany every moment of life in 8 out of every 10 homes. While continuing our sustainable growth in the Turkish market, within the scope of our internationalization strategy, we are making brand investments in different geographies.

As of 6 January 2025, we will continue our journey with our new name, Sanipak. We will continue to blend product innovation with sustainability, and create value through production and employment in our modern factories in Turkey and Morocco. Anticipating the needs of our customers who use our products and adding value to their lives will continue to be our priority," he said.

From Turkey's first tissue paper company to leadership in the personal hygiene field
Sanipak's journey began with the establishment of İpek Kağıt in 1969 and the commissioning of Turkey's first branded tissue paper factory. The company, which began producing tissue paper in 1970, created and expanded the category with the Selpak brand in 1971 and the Solo brand in 1978.

Sanipak, which has achieved many firsts and records, is today the leading company in the branded tissue paper category. Sanipak strengthened its leadership by increasing its market share in Turkish tissue paper from 22 percent to 27 percent in the past two years. Sanipak, which is a market leader with Selin lemon cologne and Okey sexual health products, is among the top two companies in its categories with brands such as Uni Baby, Detan and Defans.

Sanipak exports to more than 60 countries and holds the position of Turkey's tissue paper export leader with a 40 percent share.

It ranks among the top three players in Iraq, Georgia and Azerbaijan. The company, which expanded its Morocco investments through a process that began with exports, followed by factory investments and the acquisition of market leader Jeesr, is taking market leadership in Morocco. Sanipak, which also exports to European countries such as Denmark, England, Poland, Greece and Romania, aims to increase the share of overseas sales, which accounts for one-third of its turnover, to 50 percent with the strength of its Morocco investments.

Sanipak commits to a clean and healthy life for the future

Sanipak carries out its work on concrete targets for environmental, social and economic sustainability under the initiative 'Our Promise to Tomorrow'. Sanipak, which uses cellulose obtained from industrial forests in all tissue paper products, supports the responsible use of natural resources. With all packaging in its tissue paper product group being recyclable, Sanipak also recovers 96 percent of all its waste.

The company has introduced processes such as wastewater recovery to make efficient use of water, the most important production input, and aims to reduce water intensity by 47 percent by 2028. While reducing energy consumption by 5 percent in the past year through energy efficiency projects, it sources all electricity from renewable sources in all its factories in Turkey.

The company, which implements projects for personal hygiene awareness, women's empowerment and environmental consciousness in Turkey, has recently launched the Zero Waste Blue training project for tourism sector employees in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey.
