Humanis' Steps Sensitive to the Future

Humanis has published its 2024 Sustainability Report. Leading sustainable transformation in its sector, the company met 22% of its energy consumption from solar power plants in 2024.

Humanis released its 2024 Sustainability Report. The company, a pioneer of sustainable transformation in the sector, sourced 22% of its energy consumption from solar power plants in 2024.

Humanis reduced consumption of natural gas, grid electricity and water, while raising its recycling rate to 74%. Operating with the understanding that value-generating industrial structures are only possible through environmentally, socially and human-conscious approaches, Humanis continues its commitment to creating a health ecosystem that considers environmental sustainability, values people, and reaches all segments of society.

Humanis, operating under the principle of "sustainable health for all," shared its 2024 Sustainability Report. The report, prepared with the vision of "Strong Future," detailed achievements in environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas, innovative projects and long-term commitments. As of 2024, the company achieved sales of 42.6 million units, reached total revenue of TRY 3.7 billion and achieved 43.1% growth.

Reduced natural gas and grid electricity consumption
The company, the first domestic pharmaceutical firm to invest in solar energy, sourced 22% of its energy consumption from renewable sources in 2024. Committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in reducing its carbon footprint, the company aims to significantly reduce emissions by 2030. Humanis increased solar power-generated electricity consumption from 2,471,003 kWh in 2023 to 2,620,384 kWh in 2024, while grid electricity consumption declined from 9,894,980 kWh to 9,264,620 kWh in the same period. Natural gas consumption also fell from 15,448,150 kWh to 14,055,295 kWh.

Raised recycling rate to 74%
In line with the United Nations' 6th Sustainable Development Goal of "Clean Water and Sanitation," Humanis places water resource protection and responsible use at the center of its environmental commitments. In this context, the company reduced water consumption by approximately 15% in 2024, declining from 108,351 m³ to 92,149 m³. Through awareness campaigns, operational improvements and systematic approaches in waste management processes, Humanis raised its recycling rate from 54% in 2023 to 74% in 2024.

Social sustainability and digital transformation
Beyond environmental sustainability, Humanis took strong steps in digitalization, human resources development and social impact areas.

The company strengthened its digital infrastructure, modernizing human resources and organizational culture processes with digital technologies to implement more efficient and accessible applications. At the same time, it offered technical and skills-building training to support employees' career journeys.

A signatory to WEPs (Women's Empowerment Principles) supporting women's empowerment and equal opportunity, Humanis embedded principles of inclusion, diversity and equality at the foundation of its corporate culture. It prioritized awareness campaigns to draw attention not only to workplace challenges but also to difficulties women face in society at large. Through this approach of placing inclusion, diversity and equality at the center of corporate culture, the company strengthened employee engagement and increased employee retention rates.

Brought 200 products and more than 100 molecules to Turkish medicine
Humanis is positioned as one of the top five pharmaceutical R&D centers subsidized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The center, in full compliance with QbD (Quality by Design), EMA (European Medicines Agency) and ICH (International Council for Harmonisation) regulations, brought approximately 200 products and more than 100 molecules to Turkish medicine. In 2024, R&D activities accounted for 16.2% of total budget.

"We aim to make healthy living accessible to everyone"
Commenting on the energy policies they pursue, Humanis Head of Technical Operations Fatih Elay stated: "As Humanis, we believe that value-generating industrial structures are only possible through environmentally, socially and human-conscious approaches, and we work with this understanding. We continue our commitment to creating a health ecosystem that values people, considers environmental sustainability, and reaches all segments of society. With this vision, we develop more inclusive and equitable solutions by taking into account each individual's health, the environment and social dynamics, taking each step with the aim of leaving a more stable world for the future."
