Yıldız Demir Çelik publishes 2025 Sustainability Report

Yıldız Demir Çelik, operating under Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding, has shared with the public its 2025 Sustainability Report, which reveals its performance in environmental, social and corporate governance areas. In 2025, the company met approximately 92.5 percent of its total water use from recycled water, while achieving approximately 5,299 MWh of energy savings through energy efficiency efforts. The average training duration per employee rose to 46.7 hours.

Strengthening its position in the flat steel value chain with a sustainable production approach, Yıldız Demir Çelik comprehensively addressed its 2025 activities and future targets in its sustainability report.

Prepared in line with the “Sustainability in Every Step” approach, the report presents the company's activities and results achieved throughout the year under the headings of resource efficiency, energy management, digitalization, employee development, occupational health and safety, and corporate governance.

The report also includes the management approach developed in response to new global-scale regulations, particularly the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and changing market conditions.

“Sustainability is a management responsibility embedded in every decision we make”
Evaluating the 2025 sustainability performance, Yıldız Demir Çelik General Manager Selçuk Yılmaz stated that sustainability is not merely an environmental requirement, but is treated as a strategic responsibility in the management of all processes from production to delivery.

Yılmaz said, “2025 was a period in which we managed all processes from production to delivery at Yıldız Demir Çelik with close coordination. In the face of changing customer demands, cost pressures and carbon regulations, we handled all our processes, from quality to resource use, with the same working discipline. We believe that the success of a manufacturing company is built not only on the operating speed of its lines, but on uninterrupted coordination and trust among all units.”

Emphasizing that resource efficiency is an integral part of daily operations, Yılmaz stated that approximately 92.5 percent of the water used in 2025 was met from recycled water.

Stating that operational improvements focused on energy savings and efficiency also continued, Yılmaz said, “With our digital infrastructure, our Stargate customer portal, and our employees with strong field experience, we aim to take our operational efficiency even further. In the coming period, we will continue steadfastly on our path by strengthening our culture of collaborative working and keeping customer and employee experience at our focus.”

5,299 MWh saved through energy efficiency efforts
Yıldız Demir Çelik continued its efforts toward effective use of resources and energy efficiency in 2025. While the company met approximately 92.5 percent of its total water use from recycled water, it achieved approximately 5,299 MWh of energy savings as a result of operational improvements aimed at energy efficiency.

The calculated annual energy gain from the 8 energy efficiency projects completed during the same period was 587.1 TEP.

Various applications such as optimizing combustion settings in steam boilers, utilizing waste heat, condensate recovery, and LED lighting conversions contributed to reducing energy consumption and losses in production processes.

These efforts reduced the company's environmental impact while also supporting resource security and the efficiency of production processes.

Digitalization strengthens customer experience
In addition to operational efficiency, Yıldız Demir Çelik continued its digital infrastructure investments aimed at improving customer experience.

Thanks to the Stargate customer portal, which enables more transparent and traceable management of processes from order to shipment, and the advanced CRM infrastructure, the aim was for customers to more easily access and track operational processes.

The company considers digitalization investments to be one of the important elements of its sustainability approach.

Training per employee rose to 46.7 hours
Employee development and occupational health and safety were also among the important topics in Yıldız Demir Çelik's sustainability efforts.

While a total of 35,819 hours of training were conducted company-wide in 2025, the average training duration per employee was 46.7 hours.

In addition to training aimed at developing technical competencies, process knowledge and problem-solving capacity, platforms such as “Budur Meetings,” which support employees' open communication and participation, were also continued.

As a result of its efforts in occupational health and safety, the company also recorded improvements in accident frequency and accident severity rates.

2030 sustainability roadmap takes shape
In line with the double materiality assessment conducted in 2025, Yıldız Demir Çelik also shaped its 2030 sustainability roadmap.
