ÇEİS Restructures Risk and Business Continuity Functions

Çimento Endüstrisi İşverenleri Sendikası (ÇEİS) has established a Risk and Business Continuity Committee to address risks affecting business processes in a more systematic manner. Through the committee, risk topics relevant to the sector are being analyzed with a data-driven approach and evaluated within a common framework.

The Cement Industry Employers' Union (ÇEİS) has established a Risk and Business Continuity Committee to address risks affecting business processes in a more systematic manner. Through this committee, sector-related risk areas are being analyzed and evaluated within a common framework using a data-driven approach.

ÇEİS, which has contributed to sector development through training, projects and advisory work in occupational health and safety for many years, is now taking risk management and business continuity matters into a more comprehensive structure with its new committee organization.

Within the scope of the established committee, risk areas affecting business processes are being identified, analyzed and prioritized based on data obtained from member facilities. In this way, a more systematic and data-driven risk inventory for the sector is being created.

Business Continuity Strengthens Organizational Resilience
The TS EN ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System standard aims for organizations to identify risks that may affect their operations, protect critical processes and be prepared for potential disruptions.

This management approach encompasses a broad framework ranging from the development of policies and objectives to the safeguarding of critical processes, preparation for disruption scenarios and performance monitoring. In this way, while organizational operational resilience is increased, the sustainability of operations during crisis situations is also supported.

Risks Create a Multi-Layered Structure
In the cement sector, risks display a multi-layered structure under environmental, financial, operational and technological headings.

Within the scope of occupational health and safety, workplace accidents, fire and explosion risks and emergency management are brought to the forefront; with digitalization, risks such as cybersecurity and infrastructure disruptions are also gaining importance. Additionally, human resources competencies and development processes are among the critical components of risk management.

This structure shows that risks should be treated not as independent elements but as factors that affect each other.

"Risks Must Be Addressed Systematically"
ÇEİS General Secretary Dr. H. Serdar Şardan made the following statement regarding the matter:

"Business continuity is an important management area that ensures preparedness against potential disruptions and enables processes to continue under these conditions. In this context, the risks addressed directly affect not only operational processes but also occupational health and safety conditions.

Fires, explosions, emergencies and critical equipment failures are among the most concrete examples of these risks. For this reason, risks must be evaluated not as individual items but from a comprehensive perspective.

Within the scope of the Risk and Business Continuity Committee, we are evaluating data from member facilities in an anonymized and aggregated structure. In this way, we are prioritizing risk areas and identifying work areas that need to be focused on."

A Common Risk Management Framework is Being Created in the Sector
With ÇEİS's new organizational structure, the aim is to create a common working platform across the sector in the field of risk management and business continuity. Through analyzing data obtained from member facilities and sharing best practices, the goal is to increase resilience across the sector.
