AI Adoption in Türkiye Stalls at 5.5%: Lack of Expertise and Budget Cited as Key Barriers

According to 2024 data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, 78.9% of businesses that do not use artificial intelligence technologies attribute this choice to a lack of expertise, while 74.2% cite high costs. This shows that businesses are not distant from AI but face serious barriers to access. IAS aims to directly address these two fundamental issues by focusing on technology-based solutions and making technologies that require expertise more user-friendly.

According to Turkey's Statistics Institute's 2024 data, 78.9% of enterprises not using artificial intelligence technologies cite lack of expertise as the reason, while 74.2% attribute it to high costs. This demonstrates that enterprises are not resistant to artificial intelligence but face serious barriers to access. IAS aims to directly address these two fundamental challenges by focusing on technology-based solutions and making expertise-requiring technologies user-friendly.

According to data released by Turkey's Statistics Institute (TURKSTAT), enterprises in our country, particularly new ventures, are not benefiting sufficiently from the advantages of artificial intelligence. IAS, by focusing particularly on artificial intelligence integration into ERP products, aims to introduce artificial intelligence to enterprises and ventures of all sizes and prepare them for the business world of the future.

According to TURKSTAT data, Bahtiyar Tan, CTO of IAS, noted that in 2024, only 8.4% of ventures considered using artificial intelligence and AI-supported products. He stated: "The ratio of ventures that have not used any artificial intelligence technology but are considering its use is only 8.4% in 2024. The ratio of ventures not using artificial intelligence but considering its use, by employee size: 7.8% in ventures with 10-49 employees, 10.8% in ventures with 50-249 employees, and 17.4% in ventures with 250 or more employees. Our responsibility is to introduce enterprises and large-scale businesses in our country to the benefits that artificial intelligence brings as soon as possible."

Rolling up sleeves for ERP-artificial intelligence integration
Emphasizing that as IAS they are focusing on artificial intelligence integration in the ERP field, one of their strongest product groups, Tan stated: "We are continuing our work on integrating artificial intelligence technologies more comprehensively into our existing ERP systems. This integration will enable our customers to provide more advanced solutions in data analysis and business process management, allowing them to automate workflows and accelerate decision-making processes. When the artificial intelligence integration and project is completed, our customers will be able to manage their business processes more easily."

The TURKSTAT report shows that lack of expertise is the reason for not using artificial intelligence. When examining the reasons for not using artificial intelligence among enterprises that stated they have not used any artificial intelligence technology but are considering its use, IAS CTO Bahtiyar Tan, pointing out that the most important reason is the lack of relevant expertise in the enterprise at 78.9%, added the following on the subject:

"We see that lack of expertise is at the forefront of issues keeping enterprises away from artificial intelligence. As IAS, through the technologies we develop, we provide our business partners with all the new technologies they need firsthand. Additionally, the TURKSTAT figures show that 74.2% of enterprises' distance from artificial intelligence is cost-related, and 69.3% is due to incompatibility with existing equipment, software or systems."

Artificial Intelligence Usage Statistics by Company Size
According to TURKSTAT's 2024 data, 5.5% of enterprises in Turkey use AI technologies; this rate was 2.7% in 2021. The distribution by company size is as follows:

●    Tier 1 (Large-Scale Enterprises, 250+ employees): Leading position with 22.3% AI usage rate. AI is being used intensively particularly in customer relationship management, marketing and data analytics.
●    Tier 2 (Medium-Scale Enterprises, 50-249 employees): At 6.7% AI usage rate, generally focusing on process automation and logistics optimization.
●    Tier 3 (Small-Scale Enterprises, 10-49 employees): At 3.5% usage rate, preferring more entry-level AI tools such as basic chatbots and data analytics.

These figures show that large companies are investing more in AI, but small and medium-sized enterprises are also gradually turning to this field.
