IC Altyapı Grubu Confirms Sustainability Leadership with Three New I-REC Certificates

IC Altyapı Grubu continues to take pioneering steps in its sector in line with its vision of a sustainable world. The company has now added another certificate to the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) credentials it has obtained for Kuzey Ege Otoyolu, Zafer Havalimanı and Karasu Limanı, as part of its determined progress on this path.

IC Altyapı Grubu continues to take pioneering steps in its sector in line with a sustainable world vision. The company has added another I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) to its track record by obtaining certifications for the Northern Aegean Highway, Zafer Airport and Karasu Port.

Together with the I-REC certificate previously obtained by Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, it has been certified that all electricity consumption of four strategically important transport infrastructure facilities constructed and operated by IC Altyapı Grubu is met from renewable sources.

The Northern Aegean Highway, Karasu Port and Zafer Airport, constructed and operated by IC Altyapı Grubu, have documented that their entire electricity consumption is met from renewable energy sources by obtaining the "International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC)". Together with the I-REC certificate previously obtained by Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, it has been certified that all electricity consumption of four strategically important transport infrastructure facilities constructed and operated by IC Altyapı Grubu is met from renewable sources.

The Northern Aegean Highway meets its annual 2,000 MWh electricity consumption, Zafer Airport its annual 1,963 MWh, and Karasu Port its annual 1,764 MWh entirely from 100% renewable energy sources. All three certificates were obtained through ETIC Elektrik.

IC Altyapı Grup Şirketleri General Manager Serhat Soğukpınar made the following statement on the matter: "As IC Altyapı Grubu, we place sustainability at the centre of our operations. Previously, we certified that Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge's annual electricity consumption of 2,303 MWh was entirely obtained from renewable energy sources. We are pleased to have obtained the I-REC certificate for the Northern Aegean Highway, Zafer Airport and Karasu Port, each of which ranks among our country's permanent strategic investments. The I-REC certificate aligns perfectly with our sustainability vision as IC Altyapı Grubu. Through these certificates, we once again demonstrate the importance we attach to environmental and energy resource protection as part of our fight against climate change. As we have done so far, we will continue to take pioneering steps in sustainability in our sector going forward."

The I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate, which aims to promote renewable energy use in the business world and contribute to reducing carbon emissions, ranks among the most prestigious certification programmes with international validity in this field. The I-REC certificate stands as an important measure demonstrating business commitment to tackling climate change and demonstrates that companies' electricity consumption is sourced from renewable energy. Companies holding I-REC certificates demonstrate that they conduct their operations in an environmentally friendly manner with low carbon emission levels.
