Takeda Türkiye's STEM Journey Inspiring Young Girls

Takeda Türkiye is connecting high school girls with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through its "STEM Kızlara İyi Gelecek" (STEM Is Good for Girls' Future) project, launched as part of its sustainability approach. Through this initiative, carried out with SistersLab-Bilim ve Teknolojide Kadın Derneği, an education program on STEM, digital security, gender equality and sustainability will be offered to 1,000 high school students.

Takeda Turkey is connecting high school student girls with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through its "STEM for Girls, A Better Future" project, launched in line with its sustainability approach. Through this initiative, developed in partnership with SistersLab-Women in Science and Technology Association, an educational programme will be offered to 1,000 high school students on STEM, digital security, gender equality and sustainability.

With a history spanning 244 years, Takeda continues its work in Rare Genetic Diseases, Oncology, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Plasma-Derived Therapies and Vaccines; while bringing treatment methods developed at global level to patients in Turkey, it develops projects within the scope of its sustainability commitments. The company collaborates with various civil society organizations and focuses on technology investments that play an important role in health innovation. Within the framework of this approach, which forms the foundation of Takeda Turkey's corporate operations, it is launching the "STEM for Girls, A Better Future" project, which encourages future generations towards STEM fields.

The project, which focuses on STEM fields, aims to create lasting transformation by supporting young girls with a focus on science and technology, while drawing attention to gender equality. The project, to be conducted in partnership with SistersLab-Women in Science and Technology Association, will offer a 43-hour educational programme covering 17 different topics to girls aged 13–18.

The "STEM for Girls, A Better Future" project provides high school student girls with the opportunity to develop their digital skills, encouraging students to shape their career goals in STEM fields. With content offered across a wide range from coding to graphic design, from artificial intelligence to game development, young people will be supported so that they are equipped with today's needs and prepared for tomorrow's professions.

Takeda Turkey General Manager Nura Aykanat said: "According to 2024 data, women's representation in STEM fields globally is below 30%. This data emphasises that we need to strengthen women's representation in science and technology fields. In line with our vision of "A Healthier, Brighter Future", we have taken a new step to support women's presence in STEM fields and for a more sustainable future. As a technology-driven biopharmaceutical company, through the "STEM for Girls, A Better Future" project that we are launching, we believe that young girls will take brave steps in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Within the scope of the project, we aim to reach 2,000 young girls over 2 years and encourage them to discover their existing strong potential."

Application Deadline 20 August 2025
The "STEM for Girls, A Better Future" project, which will be offered free of charge by SistersLab's expert team, is open to all girls studying in high school throughout Turkey.
