YEO Teknoloji to Invest EUR 220 Million in Energy Project in Romania

YEO Teknoloji continues its global growth at a time when the world is rapidly shifting towards renewable energy. Believing in Romania's green energy transition and potential in Eastern Europe, YEO Teknoloji is adding new renewable energy investments through its subsidiary DEFIC Globe. YEO Teknoloji's subsidiary DEFIC Globe has acquired 15 projects of varying sizes in Romania. Together with energy storage systems, a total investment of EUR 220 million in the country is targeted.
DEFIC Globe, in which YEO holds a 51% stake, announced that it has acquired the shares of 15 separate project companies (SPVs) with a total installed capacity of 218.66 MWp located at different sites and scales in Romania, as well as all licenses and rights pertaining to these companies. Under the agreement, the acquired companies also have a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation potential with a total installed capacity of 320 MWh. The total investment amount envisioned for these projects is expected to be at the level of EUR 220 million.
Growing rapidly in Romania
DEFIC Globe, a subsidiary of YEO Teknoloji, known for its global renewable energy projects, completed its first solar power plant project in Romania in 2023. DEFIC Globe continued its investments last year. At the end of 2024, it commissioned two separate solar power plants (SPP) with a capacity of 7.4 MWp in Italy and 7.2 MWp each in Romania, for a total of 14.6 MWp. DEFIC Globe also entered into a partnership agreement with Shanghai Electric Power Co Ltd (SEP), one of China's largest renewable energy companies. Under this agreement, the investment of power plants with a total capacity of 129 MWp in the subsidiaries established in Romania will be carried out by Shanghai Electric Power Co Ltd (SEP), and the investment of power plants with a capacity of 190 MWp will be carried out jointly with Scatec.
Total portfolio reaches 590 MWp
With the latest announced acquisition, DEFIC Globe's project portfolio in Romania has reached a total capacity of 590 MWp. Some of the projects in the portfolio are in operational status while some are in construction and planning phases. These projects will be transformed into investments not only through direct investments but also alongside strong international partners such as Shanghai Electric Power and Scatec.
Target to reach 1 GW installed capacity
YEO Teknoloji, targeting to reach 1 GW installed capacity by 2030 in the renewable energy field, is advancing on its path to becoming a global player with its offices and operational capabilities in different geographies.
