Clarite and TotalEnergies Introduce Innovative Solvent Clarite, a global cleantech company, and TotalEnergies Fluids have introduced the world's first sustainable ultra-pure solvent made from plastic waste. Ultra-pure solvents are widely used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and many other sectors as safe, colourless, odourless and tasteless products that meet the highest pharmacopeial purity criteria. Producing these solvents from plastic waste significantly reduces ecological footprint and helps address the challenges created by end-of-life plastics. This technological and industrial achievement is the result of an 18-month joint research and development collaboration between Clarite and TotalEnergies Fluids. Clarite uses proprietary advanced conversion technology to transform plastic waste into sustainable, high-quality solvents and oils. TotalEnergies Fluids, meanwhile, uses Hydro-De-Aromatization technology to convert advanced-conversion materials into ultra-high-purity solvents that meet the quality levels required for demanding applications.
