Clariant Opens Bleaching Earth Production Facility in Turkey

Clariant today inaugurated a new bleaching earth production facility within its Functional Minerals business unit in Balıkesir, aimed at expanding current production capacity in Turkey and strengthening its market presence. Klaus Langer, Head of EMEA Region Functional Minerals Business Unit, stated: "This investment will further reinforce Turkey's position as a regional production hub for Europe and the Middle East. By launching local production of Tonsil® bleaching earth, we will have the opportunity to deliver high-quality products to our local customers in shorter timeframes. Local production of Tonsil® is also a testament to our continued commitment to the Turkish market and its people, alongside the support we provide to the Turkish economy." Clariant's Functional Minerals Business Unit supplies bentonite-based specialty products to customers globally. Following the success of its Tonsil® bleaching earth product, the company has begun a worldwide capacity expansion. In addition to the facility in Turkey, Clariant recently commissioned additional production capacities in Mexico and Indonesia. The company also operates bleaching earth production facilities in Germany, Spain, Peru, and Brazil. The new production facility opened in Balıkesir creates significant additional production capacity, while strengthening Clariant's position in bleaching earth production in Turkey and paving the way for Tonsil® exports to Eastern Europe and Africa.
