In a statement regarding the matter, Schneider Electric CEO Peter Herweck said, "Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games aim to reduce climate impact by lowering emissions in all aspects of event organization and supporting projects that capture or prevent carbon emissions across France and globally. As a global leader in the carbon market, we are proud to support Schneider Electric and our subsidiary EcoAct in helping Paris 2024 select climate contribution projects."
Climate contribution projects help combat climate change and provide environmental and social benefits. These projects support a company, organization or region's emission reduction strategy by offering the opportunity to support projects that will prevent or capture greenhouse gas emissions and actively combat climate change.
Providing shared benefits to biodiversity and local communities
To support Paris 2024, Schneider Electric leveraged the internationally recognized expertise of its subsidiary EcoAct, a partner experienced with ICROA (International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance), and selected three projects that meet the requirements set by Paris 2024. These three projects, located in Vietnam, Rwanda and Senegal, provide shared benefits to biodiversity and local communities in addition to climate contributions and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. Each project underwent a rigorous development and evaluation process, meeting the highest certification standards and additional requirements set by Paris 2024. Additionally, EcoAct experts conducted additional risk analyses with local partners and performed regular audits to ensure the highest level of integrity of the projects.
