IKMIB Establishes "Youth Committee and Women Exporters Committee"

İKMİB, the umbrella organization of chemical exporters, has established the "İKMİB Youth Committee" and the "İKMİB Women Chemical Exporters Committee" to bring together young chemists and women chemical exporters, create new awareness and enhance synergy in the sector. İKMİB, which hosts approximately 12,000 exporters with around 7,000 active members, operates across 16 sub-sectors and supplies raw materials and semi-finished products to 27 sectors ranging from automotive to textiles, defense to food, providing significant added value to the national economy. Within this scope, numerous activities are being carried out to increase exports of chemical sector companies, reach new markets, diversify exported products and enhance competitiveness. Leading the way with pioneering initiatives, İKMİB has created a first by establishing committees for youth and women. So far, İKMİB has had a total of 8 working groups including the Paints Sector Committee, Pharmaceutical Sector Committee, Rubber Sector Committee, Cosmetics, Cleaning and Private Label Sector Committee, Mineral Oils Sector Committee, Medical Sector Committee, Plastics Sector Committee and Editorial Board Committee. As of October, two new committees have been established: the "Youth Committee" and the "Women Chemical Exporters Committee". The sub-sector committees within İKMİB, which are working groups established to enable more effective and efficient work on sub-sectors, evaluate sector issues and solution proposals, while carrying out activities that will contribute to sector development. In committee meetings attended by representatives of member firms, information is shared about activities carried out and planned by İKMİB as well as sector developments.

Adil Pelister: "We want to reach more young people"

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the İKMİB Board of Directors, met with young chemists at the Youth Committee's first meeting, which was held digitally. He called for more young people to join the committee, which will work to properly present the chemical sector, exchange information about potential working areas, and learn the views and expectations of university students and recent graduates regarding the sector. Pelister said, "We have full confidence that our young people will make a significant contribution to the development of our sector. We are always by the side of our youth, who are the guarantee of our future, and we support them. In this context, we expect your contributions to the 'Youth Committee' that we have established within İKMİB to ensure the continuation and sustainability of our cooperation."

Women executives in the chemical sector come together

At the first meeting of the İKMİB Women Exporters Committee, Pelister met with women exporters operating in the chemical sector and emphasized that women in the chemical sector need to hold more management positions and have a greater voice. The introductory meeting, attended by İKMİB Board members, was held digitally.

Pelister said they established the "İKMİB Women Exporters Committee" to bring together women exporters in the chemical sector and increase the number of women entrepreneurs and exporters. "Our women exporters will be a major force for our sector. We believe they need to have more positions in management. Wherever our women are, there is discipline and results-oriented work is accomplished. As İKMİB, we support our women exporters in our sector to play a more active role and we will continue to be by their side for this." he said. The committee, which is formed with the participation of women working in different sub-sectors of chemistry, is aimed at contributing to the promotion of women entrepreneurship, contributing to women's employment and increasing exports.
