We had an enjoyable conversation with Omnis Kompozit Ltd. Founding Partner Tolga Kutluğ about the company's development process and the products they have introduced to the industry.

Mr. Tolga Kutluğ, could you briefly tell our readers about yourself and your educational background?

After completing my primary and secondary education abroad, I finished my four-year education by graduating from the Hacettepe University Foreign Languages Department in 1987. Starting in 1988, I began my professional career at Şişecam. Until 2012, I worked as a manager in various departments of Şişecam, primarily focused on the polymer composite (CTP) sector. I currently serve as a Board Member of the Composite Manufacturers Association and the European Composite Industry Associations.

In what year was Omnis Kompozit founded? What development process has your company experienced since its establishment?

We established Omnis Kompozit Ltd. as three partners in February 2012. Our objective was to become the exclusive representative and distributor of products that are either not produced in Turkey or have limited capacity, serving foreign manufacturers in Turkey and neighboring countries. All the domestic and foreign companies we represent are leading firms in their respective fields. Over the past six years, we have grown our company by developing within the framework of our initial objectives. Our company is growing through both our presence in the Turkish market and our exports to neighboring countries.

Could you provide information about your products and product groups?

Our company operates in two main business areas. The first is the Glass Reinforced Plastics (CTP) sector, and our other main activity is GRC, or Glass Reinforced Concrete sector. We provide raw materials, machinery and consulting services to both sectors. AR, C, E, and ECR type glass fiber products are among our main raw materials. We supply all raw materials needed by both sectors to our customers. We can supply all our products immediately from our stocks in our central warehouse. In each period, we aim to add a new product to our portfolio. Another area of our activity is expanded glass sphere products, which are important inputs in ecological mortar production. This product, manufactured from recycled glass, is environmentally responsible.

Could you tell us about your R&D activities?

Omnis Kompozit Ltd. is a distribution company, and due to the absence of production activities, we conduct R&D work through the companies we represent. Each manufacturer uses their own laboratories to meet our customers' special requests in the shortest possible time.

Could you tell us about your domestic and international sales? Which regions do you primarily serve?

Our domestic sales cover all of Turkey. To Istanbul and nearby regions, we provide service with our own vehicles of various capacities. Our international sales hold a significant share in our total sales; in 2017, we increased the number of countries we serve to 16. These countries are regions where we have regular sales. We participate in 3 trade fairs domestically to strengthen our company's identity. Our company is also an active member of the Composite Manufacturers Association and the International Glass Reinforced Concrete Association (GRCA).

Could you tell us about your new targets and projects?

In order to achieve the objectives we set at the time of our establishment, we plan to grow by controlling our growth rate and to offer products and services that will add value to the main sectors we serve and to our customers.

If you had to make an assessment of the composite sector in Turkey, what would you say? What needs to be done for the sector's development?

The Turkish composite sector is one of the rare sectors that has shown uninterrupted growth for many years. Maintaining regular growth of 6-10 percent annually demonstrates that the potential is quite strong. The sector is developing through sector-specific and high value-added end-product investments, and our country is one of the important preferences of foreign investors serving the Composite sector. I believe these developments will continue in the coming years.
