SOLUTION FOR SKIN DEFECTS ARE BARIUM SULPHATE B-MM AND E+508
As HD International Trade, we provide many raw materials to hide the soft-focus effect and skin imperfections in cosmetics. Baryum Sulfat B-MM and E + 508 are originating from South Korea and are the raw materials produced by Easthill and ABC Nanotech which we are the only authorized distributors.
We provide this with 2 different textures according to the projects of our customers;
1. The soft-focus effect can cover skin blemishes and imperfections while maintaining natural skin tone.
2. All defects can be covered by intensive applications.
Barium Sulfat B-MM is one of the best solutions for natural sealers. Barium Sulfate B-MM is a powder obtained by surface treatment with magnesium myristate on smooth pure white barium sulfate.
Barium sulphate can preserve the appearance of natural skin and cover the blemishes on the skin, but its kinetic friction coefficient (COF) is high. Magnesium myristate, on the other hand, has a smooth structure and is highly compatible with the skin.
When treated with magnesium myristate Barium Sulfate, the friction force of the molecule decreases and velvety tissue feel is achieved. It also has hydrophobic properties while being hydrophilic. Index of refractive index of synthetic mica, titanium dioxide and human skin, respectively; 1.56, 2.76 and 1.60.
Titanium dioxide, which has a higher refractive index than the skin, closes skin imperfections and the natural skin tone disappears. For barium sulphate, however, the refractive index is 1.64 and may slightly cover skin imperfections and preserve natural skin tone.
At the same time, Barium Sulphate B-MM has a smooth, soft and velvety texture. It is compatible with the skin and adheres well to the skin. Therefore, it provides long-lasting make-up and does not change color when combined with sebum. It also provides good resistance to drop test.
Soft Focus Effect of Barium Sulfate
Figure 1. To show the soft focus effect, we prepared 90μm lacquer films with dilution ratio 9:1 using the 4-shaded applicator. Titanium dioxide is too opaque it cannot make natural look, and synthetic mica is too transparent to cover blemish. But, barium sulfate can give natural skin tone cover by its soft focus effect.
Kinetic Friction Test
Figure 2. The coefficient of kinetic fraction was greatly decreased when barium sulfate is treated with magnesium myristate. Barium Sulfate B-MM can give much smoother and softer feeling on the skin’s surface.
Figure 3. It showed that Barium Sulfate B-MM has hydrophobic properties while barium sulfate is hydrophilic.
** Drop Test
Figure 4. To check stability of pressed powder, the drop test was conducted. 10 g of sample is put in a mold and press at 80 MPa for 5 sec. Then the molded compound was dropped from 70 cm height until it was broken. Compared with mica, using barium sulfate and Barium Sulfate B-MM were more stable for drop test.
Figure 5. The sample using mica was broken at 3 times of drop. But, in case of using barium sulfate or Barium Sulfate B-MM were stable at 3 times of drop.
Figure 6. It was confirmed that getting wetted by sebum. Barium sulfate and Barium Sulfate B-MM maintain its whiteness after wetted by sebum, but mica or sericite is becoming dull and dark. For the test method, 1.8 g of sample mixed with 0.9 g of artificial sebum is visually confirmed for the color change. Artificial sebum is prepared at caprylic/capric triglyceride, isostearic acid, squalene ratio of 59:24:17.

E + 508 is a non-porous type of Polymethylsilsesquioxane, 0.8μm designed for high coverage. All the same PMSQ series are presented special series from 0.8 to 10μm (E + 540,520,710 ..) by HD,As the particle size decreases, the concealing effect increases, E + 508 is an unrivaled raw material in intensive coverage.

E+508 has the lowest refractive index of products such as Silica, PMMA, Nylon, PE .1,41. It was very opacified to cover skin defects (spot, scar and wrinkle) It has much better texture than pigment grade of titanium dioxide. It has high thermal resistance and chemically stable.
