We had a very nice interview with Mr. Fatih Çeliker, KROHNE Turkey Engineering

Would you introduce yourself to our readers
and tell us briefly about your professional background?
I completed my education life, including primary, secondary, high school and university in Eskişehir, the city where I was born. After graduating from Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Electrical Electronics Engineering in 2009, I started my career as a field engineer in a contracter company in a shopping mall project in Eskişehir.
In 2012, I moved to Istanbul to work as a technical product specialist in the after-sales services department of BSH Home Appliances. In addition to my experiences which I started to gain in field works and after-sales service businesses at my former jobs, I continued to add also instrumentation at KROHNE.
In 2017, I continued to my proffessional career as Engineering Services Manager at KROHNE with a structure focusing on applications in the oil & gas industry. During this period, I worked intensively on the technical service, commissioning and engineering activities of turnkey system solutions provided by KROHNE. I continue my career as the Engineering Solutions Manager in the Engineering Solutions department, which was established in 2020 with the aim of increasing the sales, engineering and support activities of both global and local solutions of KROHNE.
Could you give us a brief information about KROHNE and activities of KROHNE Turkey? What are the criteria that make up your success policy?
KROHNE is the one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of field instrumentation and one of the leading companies in the production and development of flow, level, temperature, analysis and pressure measurement products used in all industrial sectors globally, using innovative and reliable process measurement technologies.
Celebrating its 100th anniversary last year, KROHNE was founded in 1921 in Duisburg /
Germany and is a 100% family owned company. It has more than 4100 employees with 16 production facilities in 11 countries around the world, carries out its R&D activities with up to 400 employees and continuously invests on R&D field. In addition to instrument design
and production, KROHNE SOLUTIONS also operates in sectors that require various expertise such as turnkey package systems, softwares, and systems specific to the
marine industry.
In Turkey, KROHNE has been operating for more than 50 years and is leading the way by
bringing close together many technological innovations in its field in our country. KROHNE Turkey carries out its activities in 6 regions, namely Istanbul Europe, Istanbul
Anatolia, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Adana regions with its head office in Istanbul.
In all regions, we have colleagues who are competent in their fields and support
our customers in terms of sales, marketing, service and engineering and we have official partner companies in some regions. I can say that behind our success, in addition to the KROHNE investment and continuous innovation strategies that constantly improve itself globally, there are our expert staff and partners in Turkey who
are constantly renewing themselves in their field.
What are the industries you are serving and what is your product portfolio?
At KROHNE we serve to all industries where there is a demand for industrial measuring instrumentation or engineering solutions. Mainly, we can list them as oil & gas, iron & steel, food & beverage, water & waste water, energy, chemical, mining, pulp & paper, marine
and nuclear industries.
Guided or non-contact radar level meters, mainly electromagnetic, ultrasonic, mass
(Coriolis), vortex and variable area flowmeters from KROHNE, for use in these industries; pressure and differential pressure transmitters, temperature elements and transmitters;
I also want to add that it includes analytical measuring devices such as pH, conductivity,
dissolved oxygen and free chlorine.
Also, in some of the industries I mentioned above, KROHNE has industry specific solutions as well as standard products. To give an example, there are measuring skid systems, flow
computers, pipeline management systems for oil & gas applications, vessel ballast level systems and software to be used in the marine industry and various systems, hardware and software that report fuel consumption.
Last year there was a pandemic which effects were felt intensely and it is still continuing. How was your company affected by this situation and what measures did it take?
Yes, as you mentioned, Covid-19 adversely affected the whole world and therefore our country, including last year and even the previous year. We, as KROHNE, have made some changes in our working style, taking into account the demands of our customers both around the world and in Turkey.
Even during the longest closures, our colleagues working in the office continued
to work from home, while our colleagues in the sales and service departments working in the field were at everywhere requested for customer satisfaction.
Our shipments continued uninterrupted so that our customers would not be affected, and our technical service department worked to meet the needs of our customers with the same reaction time and meticulousness by constantly keeping all the necessary travel documents with them. I hope that times like these will not happen again.
What is the importance of R&D for your company?
Could you tell us about your R&D projects that you have carried out recently?
Considering that KROHNE employs approx. 10% of the total number of employees for the R&D works that KROHNE carries out with the aim of continuous innovation, I can say that R&D is extremely important for KROHNE.
In addition to R&D activities for physical measurement which is the basis ofinstrumentation, KROHNE has recently focused on areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Ethernet communication that will accelerate and facilitate the information and
process tracking of instruments.
In addition, “International KROHNE Technology Days” are held in constant cooperation with various universities in different regions of the world where all partners involved in this cooperation come together.
With this program, which is called “TechDays”, meetings are held where everyone
involved in R&D activities within KROHNE and various guests can present their valuable ideas.
With the inspiration of these meetings, some of the R&D studies that KROHNE carries out with SAMSON, which has been acting as a partner for many years; We can cite the “FocusOn” project as an example. “Focus-On” is an intelligent measurement controller or autonomous actuator that includes all equipment such as valve, flow meter, pressure transmitter, temperature transmitter all in one device. To sum up, R&D studies with the concept of continuous innovation are indispensable for KROHNE.
Could you tell us about your targets for the upcoming years? What innovations await your company in the upcoming years?
KROHNE acts on strategic plans that aim for continuous growth in the short and long term, both globally and locally. Planning and investments made within the framework of KROHNE’s mission and values aim to offer all the possibilities brought by the latest technology to our customers, both as products and solutions.
As the KROHNE Turkey team, we act in the same mission. At this point, our target as KROHNE Turkey is to contribute to the right projects for all kind of industries, with the right instrumentation solutions, and to increase operational efficiency with high-accurate measurement technologies developed with the latest technology.
We should not forget that any process management that is not designed and measured correctly cannot be efficient and safe. Our aim is to provide the highest efficiency, lowest cost and highest benefit, thanks to the field instruments and system solutions we have developed in all industrial areas in which we serve.
