Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and value-driven energy solutions, has unveiled its latest advancement in heat exchanger technology, the Helixchanger® 2.0 system.
This new iteration builds upon the success of the original system, which boasts over 20 years of service and has been installed in over 7,000 locations worldwide.

Key improvements in the Helixchanger 2.0 technology include heightened throughput, reduced pressure drop, and the continued ability to address shell-side fouling and eliminate vibrations, preserving the integrity of the original design. These operational enhancements translate into extended operating periods, diminished cleaning requirements, and lower utility costs.
The first-generation Helixchanger® heat exchanger features quadrant-shaped baffle plates, a configuration that establishes a helical flow pattern on the shell side. This design not only delivers operational advantages but also provides capital benefits, such as extending the intervals between cleaning campaigns for crude preheat exchangers, reducing capital costs in petrochemical plants, and enhancing the energy efficiency of feed/effluent towers.
