PPG Inaugurates Center of Excellence in Italy
PPG (NYSE: PPG) announced that it has inaugurated a center of excellence at its Quattordio, Italy site that will increase the efficiency for automotive color development and application.
The $2.6 million (equivalent to 2.3 million euros) investment integrates color development and application into a unified procedure.
This minimizes the time required to introduce new colors to the market, optimizes costs, and enhances color effectiveness.
The facility is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) tools, which will be employed in color development and quality assessment procedures. These include a statistical and machine learning tool that can reduce the number of color adjustment steps, reducing costs and overall cycle time during the development of basecoats and colored products.
