We conducted an interview with the General Manager of Hicri Ercili, Mr. İbrahim
Barbaros. Barbaros told about the production and services of Hicri Ercili.
Could you please briefly tell our readers about yourself, your educational and professional background?
I was born in Bandırma in 1976, after graduating from Trakya University, Faculty of Bussines Administration, I started my business life as working in Finance Department,
after taking responsibilities in various positions, I am currently working as the General Manager and Board Member for our Hicri Ercili A.Ş. company.
When was Hicri Ercili founded? Could you tell us about the history of Hicri Ercili, the investments realized, and the current structure of the Company?
Hicri Ercili, founded in the early 1970s; The growth process, which started with the transportation of chemicals, sales of spare parts and petrol office fuel sales stations, accelerated in the 2000s with the import of other chemicals, primarily sulphuric acid, and formed the basis of today’s development. Hicri Ercili operates in multiple fields.
Hicri Ercili is the biggest aluminum sulphate producer in Turkey. Hicri Ercili exports to more than 140 countries around the world and continues to expand. The biggest feature of Hicri Ercili which handles 1.2 million tons of sulphuric acid annually, has a great process of integrated logistics.
Hicri Ercili transports the product from its source with own vessels, stocking it in own stock
tanks and delivering it to the end user with own vehicles. Hicri Ercili is the first company in Turkey to produce TSE approved ADR sulphuric acid and ammonia tanks.
It also has the first ISO tank production approvals and will begin production soon. Our company has started to operate aluminum sulphate production and tank farm facilities in Yumurtalık Free Zone at the beginning of this year and will make new breakthroughs in exports.
In addition, Hicri Ercili aims to open up to new markets both in America and Europe with the companies it has established in America/Chicago, the Netherlands and Bulgaria. Our company is determined to serve our country in the best way with its staff that grows, develops and specializes day by day.
Could you please give information about the products and services offered by Hicri Ercili? In Turkey and abroad, in which regions does Hicri Ercili operate?
Hicri Ercili does not only operates in the chemical industry, but also operates in many fields such as domestic and international logistics, cold storage, shipyard and marine, production of adr tanks and trailers, fuel oil.
And also,hicri ercili cold storage facilities are the largest cold srorage facilities in Turkey and Balkan Region. Hicri Ercili Group companies are based in Bandırma, continues its organic growth which are supllied by its own business and using its own resources efficiently on 12 locations including Çorlu, İzmit, Yalova, Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye, İstanbul, Amsterdam-Holland, Chicago-USA, Houston-USA, Sofia-Bulgaria.
As Hicri Ercili, could you please give information about your environmental policy and sustainability approach?
Hicri Ercili which has obtained the NSF certificate for the first time in Turkey for aluminium sulphate, which shows that hygienic conditions are provided for potable water treatment and is valid almost all over the world, company has all the certificates in this regard.
As Hicri Ercili, we show the most important sensitivity to environment by protecting our water, which is indispensable for all living creatures, with the aluminum sulphate we produce, which is used in the treatment of drinking and utility water.
In the coming periods, we will undertake many projects related to this sensitivity and share
them with the public.
What kind of investments does Hicri Ercili plan for the coming periods? Which criteria does Hicri Ercili prioritize when planning investments?
We pay special attnetion by producing aluminum sulphate, which is used in the treatment of water and water is most important consumption and source of life for humanity, and our goal is to be the world leader in aluminum sulphate.
Our other goals are to produce our own vessels in our shipyard and to increase the number
of our vessel fleet in maritime management. Apart from these, as Hicri Ercili, we know how important education is for the development of societies and we support every aspect of education.
We pay extra attention to the fact that our investments are in the field of education.
In this area, under the name of social responsibility projects, Hicri Ercili Bandırma Children’s Homes for our orphans and Hicri Ercili Bandırma Special Education Practice School which we have built for our children with special needs, became operational.
In addition, Hicri Ercili TED Bandırma College, which was held within our company and whose official opening ceremony was held recently, operates in our district. As soon as possible, we will bring TED College to Balıkesir and put it into operation.
